Mr. Owen M. Snyder

Mr. Owen M. Snyder, described by former Board of Education President Mr. Gregory Mark as "a man of intellect, warmth and passion for education," began as Superintendent of Randolph Township Schools in June 2009.

Mr. Snyder had worked in the Paramus School District, a Pre-K-12 district with eight schools, 425 staff members and more than 4,500 students, since 2001. He holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Kean University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Trinity College.

Mr. Snyder comes to Randolph with more than three decades of educational experience. He began his career as a social studies teacher at South Orange Middle School in 1975. He later became coordinator of the South Orange-Maplewood School District’s gifted and talented program and, later, the district’s social studies supervisor.

In 1993, he was named principal at Princeton High School. He then moved onto James Caldwell High School in West Caldwell, where he served as principal until 1999. A year later, he was named chief school administrator in the Alpine School District.

Before coming to Randolph, Mr. Snyder had  been the Assistant Superintendent of Administration, Supervision and Curriculum in Paramus – in 2007, he served as Acting Superintendent.

Mr. Snyder is married with two children and presently lives in Hawthorne.

Dr. David Browne joined Randolph Township Schools today as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction after most recently serving as principal at Hawthorne High School for nine years.

 

Dr. Browne has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health Education from Montclair State College, a master’s degree in Educational Administration from William Paterson College and holds a doctorate in Educational Administration from Seton Hall University.

 

In addition to his time as Hawthorne High School principal, Dr. Browne served as an adjunct professor at the College of Education at William Paterson University from 2002 until 2006.

 

Dr. Browne has also held the following positions as an educator: principal at Lincoln Elementary School in Caldwell from 1998 until December, 2000; principal of West Ridge Elementary School for the Park Ridge Board of Education, Park Ridge from 1997-1998; assistant principal at Midland Park High School, Midland, Park from 1995-1996; and eighth-grade science and high school health teacher for the Pompton Lakes Board of Education from 1983 until 1995.
