THE WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE AND WHY OF BULLYING: WHAT to do if you are bullied Tell your parents, tell a friend, and talk to your guidance counselor or teacher… AND NOW YOU CAN EMAIL YOUR CONCERNS CONFIDENTIALLY TO: RMSUPSTANDER@RTNJ.ORG Ø In order to help you, please give us names and facts so we can find solutions. Remember, this is highly confidential! Ø Follow up will begin on the next school day. WHO gets bullied – Any person is being bullied when they feel scared, nervous, sad, threatened, or lonely because of someone else’s deliberate and repetitive actions. WHERE & WHEN does bullying happen – In the classroom, the halls, the cafeteria, the bus, on-line, on the phone, at home…anywhere. WHY does bullying happen – A bully is sometimes a person who is looking for a way to feel better about themselves by making someone else feel bad about themselves. A bully is sometimes a nice person and unaware they have made someone else feel bad. They think they are just joking around! Here are some samples of the info we are looking for in your email: Student name and grade- John Doe – grade 7 What is happening? – An eighth grade boy keeps taking a 6th grader’s book bag and looking through it without permission. Where is it happening? – On the bus (give bus #.) When is it happening? – On the way home from school almost everyday. What are any other important details? – Nobody ever helps the 6th grader and other kids are laughing about it. OR Student name and grade -Jane Doe – grade 6 What is happening? – Everyday the same girls call me bad names when there are no adults around. Where is it happening? - It happens in lunch and in the halls. When is it happening? - It happens almost everyday, but sometimes the girls just ignore me and laugh when they see me.
